भगवद्गीता       bhagavad-gītā - chapter-8, verse-26

शुक्लकृष्णे गती ह्येते जगतः शाश्वते मते ।
एकया यात्यनावृत्तिमन्ययावर्तते पुनः ॥२६॥
26. śuklakṛṣṇe gatī hyete jagataḥ śāśvate mate ,
ekayā yātyanāvṛttimanyayāvartate punaḥ.
26. śuklakṛṣṇe gatī hi ete jagataḥ śāśvate mate
ekayā yāti anāvṛttim anyayā āvartate punaḥ
26. hi ete śuklakṛṣṇe śāśvate gatī jagataḥ mate
ekayā anāvṛttim yāti anyayā punaḥ āvartate
26. Indeed, these two eternal (śāśvate) paths, the bright and the dark, are considered to exist for the world of beings. By one path, one attains non-return; by the other, one returns again (to the cycle of rebirth (saṃsāra)).
