एवं वर्षसहस्राणि पीनात्माऽतिष्ठदेकदृक् ।

5. In this manner, for thousands of years, with a steadfast resolve (ātman), he remained single-mindedly and perfectly tranquil in the city of the asuras, just like the sun (Mārtaṇḍa) resting upon a rock.
