वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-11, verse-14

विशुद्धभावस्य हि दुष्टभावा ताम्रेक्षणस्याश्रुकलस्य राज्ञः ।
श्रुत्वा विचित्रं करुणं विलापं भर्तुर्नृशंसा न चकार वाक्यम् ॥१४॥
14. viśuddhabhāvasya hi duṣṭabhāvā tāmrekṣaṇasyāśrukalasya rājñaḥ ,
śrutvā vicitraṃ karuṇaṃ vilāpaṃ bharturnṛśaṃsā na cakāra vākyam.

14. Indeed, the evil-minded and cruel Kaikeyi did not utter a word (or respond favorably), even after hearing the extraordinary and pathetic lament of her pure-hearted husband, the king, whose eyes were coppery (from grief) and who was choked with tears.
