बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-51, verse-3

भुक्तिर्नवानां तुल्या स्याद् विभाज्या नवधा दशा ।
आदौ दशापतेर्भुक्तिस्तत्केन्द्रादियुजां ततः ॥३॥

3. The sub-periods (bhukti) of the nine (planets) should be of equal duration, as the main planetary period (daśā) is to be divided into nine parts. First, the sub-period belongs to the lord of the main planetary period (daśā), and then, in sequence, to the planets associated with the angular houses (kendras) and so on from that (daśā lord).
