महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-99, verse-6

कर्मणा क्षत्रियाश्चैते निर्घृणा भोगिभोजिनः ।
ज्ञातिसंक्षयकर्तृत्वाद्ब्राह्मण्यं न लभन्ति वै ॥६॥
6. karmaṇā kṣatriyāścaite nirghṛṇā bhogibhojinaḥ ,
jñātisaṁkṣayakartṛtvādbrāhmaṇyaṁ na labhanti vai.
6. karmaṇā kṣatriyāḥ ca ete nirghṛṇāḥ bhogibhojinaḥ
jñātisaṃkṣayakartṛtvāt brāhmaṇyaṃ na labhanti vai
6. These kṣatriyas, who are merciless and devourers of serpents, do not attain the status of a brahmin (brāhmaṇya) due to their actions (karma) of destroying their kinsmen.
