हन्यामवध्यं यदि तेऽप्रियं चरेत्प्रव्राजयेयं विषयाद्द्विजांस्तथा ।
शृण्वन्तु मे जानपदाः समागताः कङ्को यथाहं विषये प्रभुस्तथा ॥१३॥

hanyāmavadhyaṁ yadi te'priyaṁ care;tpravrājayeyaṁ viṣayāddvijāṁstathā ,
śṛṇvantu me jānapadāḥ samāgatāḥ; kaṅko yathāhaṁ viṣaye prabhustathā.

Virata said: If anyone were to do something displeasing to you, I would kill even one who should not be killed, and I would banish the twice-born (dvija) from my kingdom. Let all the assembled citizens listen to me: just as I am the lord in this kingdom, so too is Kanka.
