महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-216, verse-5

विजिघांसुं तदायान्तं कुमारः शक्रमभ्ययात् ।
विनदन्पथि शक्रस्तु द्रुतं याति महाबलः ।
संहर्षयन्देवसेनां जिघांसुः पावकात्मजम् ॥५॥
5. vijighāṁsuṁ tadāyāntaṁ kumāraḥ śakramabhyayāt ,
vinadanpathi śakrastu drutaṁ yāti mahābalaḥ ,
saṁharṣayandevasenāṁ jighāṁsuḥ pāvakātmajam.
5. vijighāṃsum tadā āyāntam kumāraḥ
śakram abhyayāt vinadan pathi śakraḥ
tu drutam yāti mahābalaḥ saṃharṣayan
devasenām jighāṃsuḥ pāvakātmajam
5. Then, as Shakra (Indra) approached, intent on killing, Kumara (Kartikeya) advanced towards him. Indeed, Shakra, the mighty one, roaring along the path, moved swiftly, encouraging the army of the gods while intending to slay the son of Agni (pāvakātmajam, Kartikeya).
