bibheda ca mahārāja pārśvaṁ tasya mahātmanaḥ.

Then, when Skanda was abandoned by the gods, Indra (Śakra) hurled his thunderbolt (vajra). That missile quickly struck Skanda's right side and, O great king, it pierced the side of that great-souled one (mahātman).
