महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-206, verse-5

क्रियाभिः स्नेहसंबन्धः स्नेहाच्छोकमनन्तरम् ।
सुखदुःखसमारम्भाज्जन्माजन्मकृतक्षणाः ॥५॥
5. kriyābhiḥ snehasaṁbandhaḥ snehācchokamanantaram ,
sukhaduḥkhasamārambhājjanmājanmakṛtakṣaṇāḥ.

sukha duḥkha samārambhāt janmājanma kṛtakṣaṇāḥ

5. Through actions (karma), bonds of attachment are formed. From this attachment, sorrow immediately follows. From the commencement of joy and suffering, the cycle of repeated births (saṃsāra) and its created moments arise.
