योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-90, verse-3

पापानुरूपमस्याशु शापं देहि महामुने ।
यदवध्यवधात्पापं वध्यत्यागात्तदेव हि ॥ ३ ॥
pāpānurūpamasyāśu śāpaṃ dehi mahāmune ,
yadavadhyavadhātpāpaṃ vadhyatyāgāttadeva hi 3
3. pāpa-anurūpam asya āśu śāpam dehi mahāmune | yat
avadhya-vadhāt pāpam vadhya-tyāgāt tat eva hi || 3 ||
3. mahāmune,
asya pāpa-anurūpam śāpam āśu dehi yat avadhya-vadhāt pāpam (bhavati),
tat eva hi vadhya-tyāgāt (bhavati) 3
3. "O great sage, quickly bestow upon him a curse befitting his transgression. For indeed, the sin incurred by killing one who ought not to be killed is precisely the same as the sin incurred by abandoning one who ought to be killed."
