वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-67, verse-12

तं हि नित्यं महाराजो बलवन्तं महाबलः ।
अपाश्रितो ऽभूद्धर्मात्मा मेरुर्मेरुवनं यथा ॥१२॥
12. taṃ hi nityaṃ mahārājo balavantaṃ mahābalaḥ ,
apāśrito'bhūddharmātmā merurmeruvanaṃ yathā.
12. tam hi nityam mahārājaḥ balavantam mahābalaḥ
apāśritaḥ abhūt dharmātmā meruḥ meruvanam yathā
12. hi mahābalaḥ mahārājaḥ dharmātmā nityam tam balavantam apāśritaḥ abhūt,
yathā meruḥ meruvanam (apāśritaḥ abhūt).
12. Indeed, the great king, a man of great strength and righteous (dharmātman) disposition, always depended on him, the powerful one, just as Mount Meru depends on the forest of Meru.
