वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-36, verse-2

अनाथस्य जनस्यास्य दुर्बलस्य तपस्विनः ।
यो गतिं शरणं चासीत् स नाथः क्व नु गच्छति ॥२॥
2. anāthasya janasyāsya durbalasya tapasvinaḥ ,
yo gatiṃ śaraṇaṃ cāsīt sa nāthaḥ kva nu gacchati.
2. anāthasya janasya asya durbalasya tapasvinaḥ yaḥ
gatim śaraṇam ca āsīt sa nāthaḥ kva nu gacchati
2. asya anāthasya durbalasya tapasvinaḥ janasya yaḥ gatim ca śaraṇam āsīt,
saḥ nāthaḥ kva nu gacchati?
2. "Where indeed does that protector (nātha) now go, he who was the recourse and refuge of this masterless, weak, and suffering (tapasvin) people?"
