अतः शान्तिं प्रवक्ष्यामि जनानां हितकाङ्क्षया ।
सूर्यस्येन्दोश्च ग्रहेणं यस्मिनृक्षे प्रजायते ॥२॥

Therefore, out of desire for the welfare of people, I shall describe the pacification (śānti) ritual for when the eclipse of the sun and moon occurs in a particular constellation (nakṣatra).
