महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-29, verse-4

मतङ्ग परमं स्थानं वार्यमाणो मया सकृत् ।
चिकीर्षस्येव तपसा सर्वथा न भविष्यसि ॥४॥

cikīrṣasyeva tapasā sarvathā na bhaviṣyasi.

4. O Mataṅga, even though prevented by me once, you indeed still desire to attain the supreme state through your austerities (tapas). You will absolutely not succeed.
