महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-129, verse-14

अपक्रमितुमिच्छेद्वा यथाकामं तु सान्त्वयेत् ।
विलिङ्गमित्वा मित्रेण ततः स्वयमुपक्रमेत् ॥१४॥
14. apakramitumicchedvā yathākāmaṁ tu sāntvayet ,
viliṅgamitvā mitreṇa tataḥ svayamupakramet.

14. If one wishes to retreat, one should conciliate as desired; or, having disguised oneself with the help of a friend, one should then personally undertake the task.
