महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-100, verse-6

तान्दृष्ट्वारीन्विजयतो भूत्वा संत्यागबुद्धयः ।
नरकस्याप्रतिष्ठस्य मा भूत वशवर्तिनः ॥६॥
6. tāndṛṣṭvārīnvijayato bhūtvā saṁtyāgabuddhayaḥ ,
narakasyāpratiṣṭhasya mā bhūta vaśavartinaḥ.
6. tān dṛṣṭvā arīn vijayataḥ bhūtvā saṃtyāgabuddhayaḥ
narakasya apratiṣṭhasya mā bhūta vaśavartinaḥ

apratiṣṭhasya narakasya vaśavartinaḥ mā bhūta
6. Having seen those enemies (arīn), and having then developed the intention to abandon (saṃtyāgabuddhayaḥ) (the chance of) victory, do not become subject to this ignominious hell (naraka).
