योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-1, chapter-13, verse-8

तावच्छीतमृदुस्पर्शाः परे स्वे च जने जनाः ।
वात्ययेव हिमं यावच्छ्रिया न परुषीकृताः ॥ ८ ॥
tāvacchītamṛdusparśāḥ pare sve ca jane janāḥ ,
vātyayeva himaṃ yāvacchriyā na paruṣīkṛtāḥ 8
8. tāvat śīta-mṛdu-sparśāḥ pare sve ca jane janāḥ
vātyayā iva himam yāvat śriyā na paruṣīkṛtāḥ
8. People remain gentle and soft-spoken towards both strangers and their own kin only as long as they have not been made harsh by prosperity (śriyā), just as snow is (not hardened) by a fierce wind.
