वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-43, verse-8

ततो वेदश्रुतिं नाम शिववारिवहां नदीम् ।
उत्तीर्याभिमुखः प्रायादगस्त्याध्युषितां दिशम् ॥८॥
8. tato vedaśrutiṃ nāma śivavārivahāṃ nadīm ,
uttīryābhimukhaḥ prāyādagastyādhyuṣitāṃ diśam.
8. tataḥ vedaśrutim nāma śivavārivahām nadīm
uttīrya abhimukhaḥ prāyāt agastyādhyuṣitām diśam
8. tataḥ uttīrya nāma śivavārivahām vedaśrutim
nadīm abhimukhaḥ agastyādhyuṣitām diśam prāyāt
8. Then, having crossed the river named Vedaśruti, which carried auspicious waters, he proceeded, facing the direction (diś) inhabited by the sage Agastya.
