महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-97, verse-4

अत्रामृतं सुरैः पीत्वा निहितं निहतारिभिः ।
अतः सोमस्य हानिश्च वृद्धिश्चैव प्रदृश्यते ॥४॥

4. Here, the nectar (amṛta) was deposited by the gods (suras) after they, having vanquished their enemies, had drunk it. It is because of this (deposit) that the waning and waxing of Soma (the moon) are observed.
