महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-97, verse-1

नारद उवाच ।
एतत्तु नागलोकस्य नाभिस्थाने स्थितं पुरम् ।
पातालमिति विख्यातं दैत्यदानवसेवितम् ॥१॥
1. nārada uvāca ,
etattu nāgalokasya nābhisthāne sthitaṁ puram ,
pātālamiti vikhyātaṁ daityadānavasevitam.

puram pātālam iti vikhyātam daityadānavasevitam
1. Nārada said: "This city, situated in the central region (nābhi) of the Nāga realm (loka), is renowned as Pātāla (pātāla) and is inhabited by Daityas and Dānavas."
