महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-244, verse-11

उक्तो रात्रौ मृगैरस्मि स्वप्नान्ते हतशेषितैः ।
तनुभूताः स्म भद्रं ते दया नः क्रियतामिति ॥११॥
11. ukto rātrau mṛgairasmi svapnānte hataśeṣitaiḥ ,
tanubhūtāḥ sma bhadraṁ te dayā naḥ kriyatāmiti.
11. uktaḥ rātrau mṛgaiḥ asmi svapna ante hataśeṣitaiḥ
tanubhūtāḥ sma bhadram te dayā naḥ kriyatām iti
11. At the end of a dream, I was told at night by the deer who survived the slaughter: 'We are few. May good fortune be yours; please show compassion (dayā) to us.'
