महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-63, verse-9

प्राङ्निवेशात्तु राजानं ब्राह्मणाः सपुरोधसः ।
कृत्वा शान्तिं यथान्यायं सर्वतः पर्यवारयन् ॥९॥
9. prāṅniveśāttu rājānaṁ brāhmaṇāḥ sapurodhasaḥ ,
kṛtvā śāntiṁ yathānyāyaṁ sarvataḥ paryavārayan.

kṛtvā śāntim yathānyāyam sarvataḥ paryavārayan

9. Indeed, before the establishment of the settlement, the Brahmins, accompanied by their chief priest, performed the propitiatory rites (śānti) according to custom and then surrounded the king from all sides.
