Whatever has been offered in Vedic ritual (iṣṭam), given as charity (dattam), austerity (tapas) practiced, sacred texts studied, vows taken, and observances (niyamāḥ) followed—all of this eventually ends in destruction. However, there is no end to true knowledge (jñāna).
