महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-164, verse-2

उवाच च महेष्वासो गन्धर्वं कुरुसत्तमः ।
जातकौतूहलोऽतीव वसिष्ठस्य तपोबलात् ॥२॥
2. uvāca ca maheṣvāso gandharvaṁ kurusattamaḥ ,
jātakautūhalo'tīva vasiṣṭhasya tapobalāt.

| jātakautūhalaḥ atīva vasiṣṭhasya tapasbalāt
2. And the great archer (maheṣvāsa), the best of the Kurus, spoke to the Gandharva, as extreme curiosity had arisen in him regarding the power of austerity (tapas) of Vasiṣṭha.
