महानिर्वाण-तन्त्रम्       mahānirvāṇa-tantram - chapter-11, verse-55

मृते पत्यौ स्वधर्मेण पतिबन्धुवशे स्थिता ।
अभावे पितृबन्धूनां तिष्ठन्ती दायमर्हति ॥५५॥
55. mṛte patyau svadharmeṇa patibandhuvaśe sthitā ,
abhāve pitṛbandhūnāṁ tiṣṭhantī dāyamarhati.
55. mṛte patyau sva-dharmeṇa pati-bandhu-vaśe sthitā
abhāve pitṛ-bandhūnām tiṣṭhanī dāyam arhati
55. patyau mṛte sva-dharmeṇa pati-bandhu-vaśe sthitā
pitṛ-bandhūnām abhāve tiṣṭhanī dāyam arhati
55. When her husband has died, a wife who remains steadfast in her own duty and under the control of her husband's relatives - or in the absence of her husband's relatives, under the control of her father's relatives - is entitled to inherit property.
