महानिर्वाण-तन्त्रम्       mahānirvāṇa-tantram - chapter-11, verse-131

अन्नाभावे च दौर्भिक्ष्ये विपदि प्राणसङ्कटे ।
निषिद्धेनाऽदनेनापि रक्षन् प्राणान्न पातकी ॥१३१॥
131. annābhāve ca daurbhikṣye vipadi prāṇasaṅkaṭe ,
niṣiddhenā'danenāpi rakṣan prāṇānna pātakī.
131. anna-abhāve ca daurbhikṣye vipadi prāṇasaṅkaṭe
niṣiddhena adanena api rakṣan prāṇān na pātakī
131. annābhāve ca daurbhikṣye vipadi prāṇasaṅkaṭe
niṣiddhena adanena api prāṇān rakṣan na pātakī
131. In the absence of food, during a famine, in danger, or in a crisis threatening life, protecting one's life even by consuming forbidden things does not make one a sinner.
