ततो ऽर्धरात्रसमये बालका मुनिदारकाः ।
वाल्मीकेः प्रियमाचख्युः सीतायाः प्रसवं शुभम् ।
तस्य रक्षां महातेजः कुरु भूतविनाशिनीम् ॥२॥
2. tato'rdharātrasamaye bālakā munidārakāḥ ,
vālmīkeḥ priyamācakhyuḥ sītāyāḥ prasavaṃ śubham ,
tasya rakṣāṃ mahātejaḥ kuru bhūtavināśinīm.

2. Then, at midnight, the boys, the disciples of the sages (muni), announced to Valmiki the pleasant news of Sita's auspicious delivery. 'O greatly powerful one,' they entreated, 'provide protection for it, a protection that destroys all evil beings!'
