महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-53, verse-18

अनर्हानेव तु वधे धर्मयुक्तान्विकर्मणा ।
सर्वोपायैर्नियन्तव्यः सानुगः पापपूरुषः ।
तव पुत्रो महाराज नात्र शोचितुमर्हसि ॥१८॥
18. anarhāneva tu vadhe dharmayuktānvikarmaṇā ,
sarvopāyairniyantavyaḥ sānugaḥ pāpapūruṣaḥ ,
tava putro mahārāja nātra śocitumarhasi.
18. anarhān eva tu vadhe dharma-yuktān
vi-karmaṇā | sarva-upāyaiḥ niyantavyaḥ
sa-anugaḥ pāpa-pūruṣaḥ | tava
putraḥ mahā-rāja na atra śocitum arhasi
18. But when the righteous (dharma-yuktān) were subjected to destruction (vadha) by the unworthy (anarhān) through wicked deeds (vikarmaṇā), then that sinful man (pāpa-puruṣa), along with his followers, had to be restrained by all means. O great king, you should not grieve for your son in this matter.
