महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-217, verse-1

मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
स्कन्दस्य पार्षदान्घोराञ्शृणुष्वाद्भुतदर्शनान् ।
वज्रप्रहारात्स्कन्दस्य जज्ञुस्तत्र कुमारकाः ।
ये हरन्ति शिशूञ्जातान्गर्भस्थांश्चैव दारुणाः ॥१॥
1. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca ,
skandasya pārṣadānghorāñśṛṇuṣvādbhutadarśanān ,
vajraprahārātskandasya jajñustatra kumārakāḥ ,
ye haranti śiśūñjātāngarbhasthāṁścaiva dāruṇāḥ.

śṛṇuṣva adbhuta-darśanān vajra-prahārāt
skandasya jajñuḥ tatra kumārakāḥ ye
haranti śiśūn jātān garbhasthān ca eva dāruṇāḥ
1. Mārkaṇḍeya said: Listen about Skanda's fierce attendants, who possess wondrous appearances. From the impact of the thunderbolt upon Skanda, young boys (kumārakāḥ) were born there—terrible ones who steal infants, both those already born and those still in the womb.
