महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-15, chapter-21, verse-2

गान्धारीसहितो धीमानभिनन्द्य यथाविधि ।
कार्त्तिक्यां कारयित्वेष्टिं ब्राह्मणैर्वेदपारगैः ॥२॥
2. gāndhārīsahito dhīmānabhinandya yathāvidhi ,
kārttikyāṁ kārayitveṣṭiṁ brāhmaṇairvedapāragaiḥ.

2. Accompanied by Gāndhārī, the wise (king Dhṛtarāṣṭra), having properly honored (the Pāṇḍavas), then caused a Vedic ritual to be performed on the full moon day of Kārttika by Brahmins who had mastered the Vedas.
