महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-95, verse-14

स धर्मशास्त्रकुशलो भीष्मं शांतनवं नृपः ।
पूजयामास धर्मेण स चैनं प्रत्यपालयत् ॥१४॥
14. sa dharmaśāstrakuśalo bhīṣmaṁ śāṁtanavaṁ nṛpaḥ ,
pūjayāmāsa dharmeṇa sa cainaṁ pratyapālayat.

pūjayāmāsa dharmeṇa sa ca enam pratyapālayat
14. That king, skilled in dharma-śāstra, honored Bhishma, the son of Shantanu, with due dharma. And Bhishma, in turn, protected him.
