अचेत्यचिन्मयं विश्वं विष्वगाभाति चिन्नभः ।
अत्र चिच्चेतनं चेदं चेत्यमप्येवमात्मकम् ॥ १ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: The universe, which is consciousness (cit) beyond conception, shines forth universally as the pure expanse of consciousness. Here, consciousness (cit) itself is the conscious agent, and even that which is perceived (cetya) is inherently of this very nature.
