वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-5, chapter-6, verse-17

ततस्तदा बहुविधभावितात्मनः कृतात्मनो जनकसुतां सुवर्त्मनः ।
अपश्यतो ऽभवदतिदुःखितं मनः सुचक्षुषः प्रविचरतो महात्मनः ॥१७॥
17. tatastadā bahuvidhabhāvitātmanaḥ kṛtātmano janakasutāṃ suvartmanaḥ ,
apaśyato'bhavadatiduḥkhitaṃ manaḥ sucakṣuṣaḥ pravicarato mahātmanaḥ.
17. tataḥ tadā bahuvidhabhāvitātmanaḥ
kṛtātmanaḥ janakasutām suvartmanaḥ
apaśyataḥ abhavat atiduḥkhitam manaḥ
sucakṣuṣaḥ pravicarataḥ mahātmanaḥ
17. Then, at that moment, the mind of the great-souled (mahātman) Hanumān—who was disciplined in spirit (kṛtātman), whose inner self was deeply contemplated in various ways, who followed a virtuous path, and who, possessing keen eyesight, was searching everywhere—became exceedingly distressed because he did not see Janaka's daughter (Sītā).
