When a child is born in the gaṇḍānta period of Mūla, Jyeṣṭhā, Aśleṣā, or Maghā nakṣatras, one should give three cows. If born in the gaṇḍānta period of Revatī or Aśvinī nakṣatras, one should give a pair of cows. These donations should be made to a Brahmin (dvija) at the time of the gaṇḍānta.
