महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-85, verse-3

बृहस्पतिरुवाच ।
सान्त्वमेकपदं शक्र पुरुषः सम्यगाचरन् ।
प्रमाणं सर्वभूतानां यशश्चैवाप्नुयान्महत् ॥३॥
3. bṛhaspatiruvāca ,
sāntvamekapadaṁ śakra puruṣaḥ samyagācaran ,
pramāṇaṁ sarvabhūtānāṁ yaśaścaivāpnuyānmahat.

ācaran pramāṇam sarvabhūtānām yaśaḥ ca eva āpnuyāt mahat

3. Brihaspati said: O Shakra, gentleness (sāntva) is that single principle by properly practicing which a person (puruṣa) may attain to be an authority for all beings and also achieve great fame.
