He (the knower of the field, kṣetrajña) is the observer of the qualities (guṇa-s) and indeed, truly, the orchestrator (of their manifestations). Understand this subtle difference between the material principle (sattva) and the knower of the field (kṣetrajña), both of which are subtle.
