Bhṛgu said: 'O Brahmin (brahman), long ago, during the Brahmakalpa (brahmakalpa), a great doubt regarding the origin of the worlds arose among the great-souled ones (mahātmanām) at a gathering of the Brahma-ṛṣis (brahmarṣi).'
