महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-24, verse-4

न चानुजानाति भृशं च तप्यते शोचत्यन्तः स्थविरोऽजातशत्रो ।
शृणोति हि ब्राह्मणानां समेत्य मित्रद्रोहः पातकेभ्यो गरीयान् ॥४॥
4. na cānujānāti bhṛśaṁ ca tapyate; śocatyantaḥ sthaviro'jātaśatro ,
śṛṇoti hi brāhmaṇānāṁ sametya; mitradrohaḥ pātakebhyo garīyān.
4. na ca anujānāti bhṛśam ca tapyate
śocati antaḥ sthaviraḥ ajātaśatro
śṛṇoti hi brāhmaṇānām sametya
mitradrohaḥ pātakebhyaḥ garīyān
4. O Ajātaśatru, the elder (Dhṛtarāṣṭra) neither approves nor endures, but grieves deeply within. Indeed, he has heard from the assembled Brahmins that treachery against a friend is more grievous than (other) sins.
