महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-47, verse-11

प्राचीं राजा दक्षिणां भीमसेनो यमौ प्रतीचीमथ वाप्युदीचीम् ।
धनुर्धरा मांसहेतोर्मृगाणां क्षयं चक्रुर्नित्यमेवोपगम्य ॥११॥
11. prācīṁ rājā dakṣiṇāṁ bhīmaseno; yamau pratīcīmatha vāpyudīcīm ,
dhanurdharā māṁsahetormṛgāṇāṁ; kṣayaṁ cakrurnityamevopagamya.
11. prācīm rājā dakṣiṇām bhīmasenaḥ
yamau pratīcīm atha vā api udīcīm
dhanurdharā māṃsahetoḥ mṛgāṇām
kṣayam cakruḥ nityam eva upagamya
11. The king (Yudhiṣṭhira) went to the eastern direction, Bhīmasena to the southern, and the twins (Nakula and Sahadeva) to the western or even northern direction. These archers, constantly hunting for meat, always caused the slaughter of animals after approaching them.
