O King, descendants of Pratipa (Prātipīyas) and Śantanu (Śāṃtanavas), listen to this wise counsel; do not let it pass you by! Without resorting to war, you must pacify this exceedingly dreadful, blazing, and ever-rising universal fire (vaiśvānara) (of conflict).
