महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-143, verse-2

किमीदृशं नृशंसेन मया कृतमबुद्धिना ।
भविष्यति हि मे नित्यं पातकं हृदि जीवतः ॥२॥
2. kimīdṛśaṁ nṛśaṁsena mayā kṛtamabuddhinā ,
bhaviṣyati hi me nityaṁ pātakaṁ hṛdi jīvataḥ.
2. kim īdṛśam nṛśaṃsena mayā kṛtam abuddhinā |
bhaviṣyati hi me nityam pātakam hṛdi jīvataḥ
2. abuddhinā nṛśaṃsena mayā īdṛśam kim kṛtam me
jīvataḥ hṛdi nityam pātakam hi bhaviṣyati
2. What a deed of cruelty has been done by me, the senseless one! Surely, as long as I live, this sin (pātaka) will always remain in my heart.
