दुर्गा-सप्तशती       durgā-saptaśatī - chapter-9, verse-6

आजगाम महावीर्यः शुम्भोऽपि स्वबलैर्वृतः ।
निहन्तुं चण्डिकां कोपात्कृताव युद्धं तु मातृभिः ॥६॥
6. ājagāma mahāvīryaḥ śumbho'pi svabalairvṛtaḥ .
nihantuṃ caṇḍikāṃ kopātkṛtāva yuddhaṃ tu mātṛbhiḥ.
6. ājagāma mahāvīryaḥ śumbhaḥ api svabalaiḥ vṛtaḥ
nihantum caṇḍikām kopāt kṛtāva yuddham tu mātṛbhiḥ
6. The immensely powerful Śumbha also arrived, surrounded by his own forces, furiously intending to kill Caṇḍikā, indeed engaging in battle with the Mothers.
