योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-135, verse-11

तेषां तान्यथ भूतानां मेदोजालानि भूतले ।
विस्तृतान्यवशुष्काणि स्थितातो मेदिनी मही ॥ ११ ॥
teṣāṃ tānyatha bhūtānāṃ medojālāni bhūtale ,
vistṛtānyavaśuṣkāṇi sthitāto medinī mahī 11
11. teṣām tāni atha bhūtānām medojālāni bhūtale
vistṛtāni avaśuṣkāṇi sthitā ataḥ medinī mahī
11. atha teṣām bhūtānām tāni medojālāni bhūtale
vistṛtāni avaśuṣkāṇi sthitā ataḥ mahī medinī
11. Then, those layers of fat belonging to those beings, having spread out and dried up upon the earth's surface, became the foundation from which this great earth (mahī) came to be called Medinī.
