श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
मत्तेन भूतवृन्देन किंचिच्छेषीकृते शवे ।
इदमूचुः पुनर्दिक्षु गिरौ देवाः सवासवाः ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca ,
mattena bhūtavṛndena kiṃciccheṣīkṛte śave ,
idamūcuḥ punardikṣu girau devāḥ savāsavāḥ 1

1. Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: When the intoxicated multitude of spirits (bhūta) had left only a little of the corpse, the gods, along with Indra (Vāsava), again spoke this (message) on the mountain, towards the cardinal directions.
