महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-4, chapter-25, verse-16

व्यालैर्वापि महारण्ये भक्षिताः शूरमानिनः ।
अथ वा विषमं प्राप्य विनष्टाः शाश्वतीः समाः ॥१६॥
16. vyālairvāpi mahāraṇye bhakṣitāḥ śūramāninaḥ ,
atha vā viṣamaṁ prāpya vinaṣṭāḥ śāśvatīḥ samāḥ.
16. vyālaiḥ vā api mahāraṇye bhakṣitāḥ śūramāninaḥ
atha vā viṣamam prāpya vinaṣṭāḥ śāśvatīḥ samāḥ
16. Or perhaps, considering themselves brave, they were devoured by wild animals in the great forest. Or else, having encountered great difficulty, they have perished forever.
