महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-353, verse-9

स च किल कृतनिश्चयो द्विजाग्र्यो भुजगपतिप्रतिदेशितार्थकृत्यः ।
यमनियमसमाहितो वनान्तं परिगणितोञ्छशिलाशनः प्रविष्टः ॥९॥
9. sa ca kila kṛtaniścayo dvijāgryo; bhujagapatipratideśitārthakṛtyaḥ ,
yamaniyamasamāhito vanāntaṁ; parigaṇitoñchaśilāśanaḥ praviṣṭaḥ.

9. And indeed, that foremost among the twice-born (dvija), having made a firm decision, and whose purpose and duties had been designated by the lord of serpents, entered the interior of the forest. He was composed in his ethical restraints (yama) and observances (niyama), and subsisted only on carefully gleaned and gathered grains.
