नाग उवाच ।
अनुक्त्वा मद्गतं कार्यं क्वेदानीं प्रस्थितो भवान् ।
उच्यतां द्विज यत्कार्यं यदर्थं त्वमिहागतः ॥३॥

anuktvā madgataṁ kāryaṁ kvedānīṁ prasthito bhavān ,
ucyatāṁ dvija yatkāryaṁ yadarthaṁ tvamihāgataḥ.

The Nāga said: "Without having told me the task that concerns me, where are you going now, Sir? O brahmin (dvija), let that task be stated, for which purpose you have come here."
