महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-10, verse-5

सूत उवाच ।
इति श्रुत्वा वचस्तस्य भुजगस्य रुरुस्तदा ।
नावधीद्भयसंविग्न ऋषिं मत्वाथ डुण्डुभम् ॥५॥
5. sūta uvāca ,
iti śrutvā vacastasya bhujagasya rurustadā ,
nāvadhīdbhayasaṁvigna ṛṣiṁ matvātha ḍuṇḍubham.
5. sūtaḥ uvāca iti śrutvā vacaḥ tasya bhujagasya ruruḥ tadā
na avadhīt bhayasaṃvignaḥ ṛṣim matvā atha ḍuṇḍubham
5. Sūta said: Having heard the words of that serpent, Ruru, agitated by fear, then did not kill the Ḍuṇḍubha, considering him to be a sage.
