महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-24, verse-1

सूत उवाच ।
इत्युक्तो गरुडः सर्पैस्ततो मातरमब्रवीत् ।
गच्छाम्यमृतमाहर्तुं भक्ष्यमिच्छामि वेदितुम् ॥१॥
1. sūta uvāca ,
ityukto garuḍaḥ sarpaistato mātaramabravīt ,
gacchāmyamṛtamāhartuṁ bhakṣyamicchāmi veditum.
1. sūtaḥ uvāca iti uktaḥ garuḍaḥ sarpaiḥ tataḥ mātaram
abravīt gacchāmi amṛtam āhartum bhakṣyam icchāmi veditum
1. Sūta said: "Thus spoken to by the serpents, Garuḍa then said to his mother: 'I am going to fetch the ambrosia. I wish to know what food (I should eat).'
