भगवद्गीता       bhagavad-gītā - chapter-17, verse-15

अनुद्वेगकरं वाक्यं सत्यं प्रियहितं च यत् ।
स्वाध्यायाभ्यसनं चैव वाङ्मयं तप उच्यते ॥१५॥
15. anudvegakaraṁ vākyaṁ satyaṁ priyahitaṁ ca yat ,
svādhyāyābhyasanaṁ caiva vāṅmayaṁ tapa ucyate.

svādhyāyābhyasanam ca eva vāṅmayam tapaḥ ucyate

15. Speech (vākya) that is truthful, agreeable, beneficial, and does not cause agitation, along with the regular study and practice of scriptures (svādhyāya), is declared to be verbal austerity (tapas).
